Tammy Wallace, Tracey Mitchell, & Terri Santos, pictured below, are sisters that have a close and loving bond. They are a big part in each other’s lives. Together they help each other see the greatness in themselves. Here is a unique story of 3 sisters who find a way to be connected even when they are far apart.
Sister’s Tattoo

Tracey tells their story of bonding, overcoming fear, and the art of expression.
On a recent trip home to visit with my family in Massachusetts, my sisters and I decided to get “sister tattoo’s”. Since I have moved out of state we don’t get to see each other much anymore. We thought if we all had the same tattoo, we would still be “together” even though we may not be physically together.
We all got excited about planning for the big tattoo. This would be the first tattoo for my youngest sister Terri, so Tammy and I decided to let her pick out the design.
After much internet searching, she came across the symbol for the trinity circle intertwined with a heart. The trinity circle, also known as the triquetra, is widely known to represent the 3 stages of the feminine cycle, as in maiden, mother, and crone. The design is a continuous 3-sectioned circle which represents the unity of the 3 elements working together as one. This was just perfect for the 3 sisters! (Tracey, Tammy, and Terri).
The number 3 had sacred regard in the old days. The trinity circle can also represent other things and persons honored that are threefold such as:

- 3 states of being: spirit, mind, and body
- 3 states of mind; though, feeling, emotion
- 3 states of time; past, present, future
- 3 states of a woman; maiden, mother, crone (Pagan religion)
- 3 stages of trinity; father, son, holy spirit (Christian religion)
- 3 forces of nature; earth, air, water
We all decided that this was a great tattoo for us to get. The representations of the female life cycle and the 3 states of being have great meaning to us. Not to mention that the circle represented the sacred number of 3.
We all went to our friends tattoo shop and had a great time watching Terri overcome her fear of the needle! The trinity circle represents to usthe strength of all 3 sisters together and the heart represents the love that we all share. Now if any one of us is having a bad day, we are never alone! If our self esteem plummets for some reason, we can look at the tattoo and know that we have the strength of three! If we ever feel lonely or not understood, we know that our sisters will always love and understand us! When we are apart we know that we are always “together” with our “sister’s tattoo”!
