Wendy Dorsey follows her musical dreams & finds great self esteem along the journey!
Sometimes your answers to your dreams have been right in front of you all along. Living your dream and pursuing your goals takes great dedication and determination.
Wendy is full of dedication, commitment, and energy! Upon meeting Wendy I realized how extraordinary she is and could not wait to hear her story! Her life story of coming full circle to live out her dream brings joy and music to the world! For starters she is about to launch her second internet radio station WAJM 102.4FM just 6 months after starting WAJM 102.1FM. Let’s start at the beginning!
Her story begins in Detroit Michigan during one of the greatest music revolutions the world has ever witnessed, the Motown era. This is where she developed a deep-rooted passion for the entertainment industry. After absorbing all she could from the industry in Detroit, she moved to Philadelphia, PA in the 1980’s and started working on making her dreams reality. This is when Evergreen Productions was started.
Wendy dove in full force! She pushed through and learned how to do all that was needed in the music industry. At the beginning of her first company, Evergreen Productions, she managed the top 40 band “Bits and Pieces”. In late 1991 she moved to San Diego, here she developed Evergreen Productions into a network for developing and established artists while the company maintained its production and management status. In early 2007, Evergreen became the business manager for Stellar and Grammy award winner, and gospel great Mr. Michael Cook of the legendary gospel group the Mighty Clouds of Joy, until his untimely death in 2008.
Evergreen’s name was later changed to Dorsey Enterprises. In honor of her father Thomas Dorsey, who always told her to dream big, Love God and family first and just do it! Wendy’s talents have blossomed over the years and include currently managing Radio personality and Gospel recording artist Mr. Jermaine Mickey. With Wendy’s ability to make people feel at ease, she has taken the company’s repertoire to a new level of up and coming artists as well as artists like, Jazz Pianist Derek Dabbs, and the Gospel Quartet group Chevela &The Spiritual Voices.
Her dreams and goals do not end with music. Wendy Dorsey is also an ordained minister, obtained a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Master Degree in Management and Leadership from Springfield College. She was Chairperson for the African American Advisory Council of the San Diego Repertory Theater, Chair for the Veterans Employment Committee (VEC) and served on the board of the Veterans Day Parade Committee. Through all of this she managed to raise two children, Autumn and Wesley. Wendy as also served as secretary/treasurer for the Latina Latino Unity Coalition for Indigenous People, Escondido School Review Board, Escondido Gang Task Force, and Rancho del Campo pre-release team, The Alternative to Violence Project, and Recording for the Blind. She is now serving on the board of Final Salute, Inc, which Womanly Journey’s Honor charm is dedicated to.
Wendy Maria Dorsey has proven that hard work and perseverance, guided by a genuinely good heart is fundamental in one attaining their dreams. By pushing through her fears she has achieved so many things. In doing so she continues to show herself and others that you can do anything that you desire! She continues to be an asset to the community in which she lives and so graciously serves. Through her drive and unyielding motivation she is truly “Making Dreams Come True Through Entertainment.” Keep the Music Playing!
